Wednesday will kick off what is anticipated to be a second consecutive record-breaking cruise season for the Port of Prince Rupert.
Last year, the Port rebounded from a two-year pandemic-induced cruise ship hiatus by welcoming nearly 41,000 passengers.
That marked a 230 percent increase compared to 2019 volumes, and the port’s busiest cruise season in over a decade.
This year, the Port Authority is expecting to see roughly double last year’s count with more than 81,000 passengers.
Roughly 2,100 passengers will arrive at the port on Wednesday morning on the first of over 50 cruise calls at the port through October.
This marks the first year that cruise operations at the port are managed by Global Ports Holding, the world’s largest independent cruise port operator.
