A Prince Rupert family is thanking the RCMP’s Coastal unit for helping to bring them and their stranded boat to shore on Sunday.
39 year-old Jeff Easingwood says he had become trapped in Bishop Bay along with his wife and three kids, after their boat’s main motors failed.
When their kicker motor also died, Easingwood hopped on his personal satellite communicator to request assistance.
A pair of Coastal Unit officers were able to track the communicator’s signal to find the adrift boat, and bring it back to shore in Kitimat.
RCMP are encouraging boaters to carry a device capable of transmitting your location, such as the communicator used by Easingwood.
