Due to rising river levels, trails at Ferry Island and Fisherman’s Park have been closed in Terrace.
Currently, the Skeena-Bulkley region is covered under a high streamflow advisory from the River Forecast Centre.
With unseasonable temperatures and a heat warning from Environment Canada, snowpacks in the region are melting rapidly.
So the city of Terrace is advising all visitors to obey signage in flagged off areas on Ferry Island where water is approaching, as well as Fishermans Park, which has been barricaded.
The city is advising that further closures to Ferry Island and other parks could happen, to stay up to date on river conditions visit terrace.ca
