BC’s four largest active wildfires are currently raging in the Peace Region, prompting a slew of evacuation alerts and orders.
Covering roughly 33,000 hectares, the Donnie Creek wildfire southeast of Prophet River, in the Tommy Lakes area, is the largest of those.
It is prompting an evacuation order and a smaller alert for an area north of Sekani Chief Canyon Park to the Northern Rockies boundary.
South of there, and just north of Fort St John, the Stoddart Creek and Red Creek fires are covering 13,000 and 3,000 hectares respectively.
Combined, they are leading to a number of evacuation orders and alerts in Fort St John, Charlie Lake, Rose Prairie, Montney, North Pine, and more.
Now at close to 6,200 hectares, the Boundary Lake fire has an alert in place between Cecil Lake and the Alberta border as well.
