LNG Canada is the newest member of the Environmental Assessment Office’s naughty list, after being issued their first non-compliance order.
It stems from an inspection of their Kitimat export terminal from March, which revealed failures to meet their waste management requirements.
Under their certificate, LNG Canada is required to regularly inspect waste storage facilities, and to separate different waste streams.
But, the inspection found that regular maintenance and inspections were not conducted, and that recyclables were being mixed with general waste.
In total, the inspection looked into nine requirements, but found them to be compliant with the other seven.
Those issues come just one week after their partner company, Coastal GasLink was issued five non-compliance orders.
Each of those orders cover sections of their pipeline route which will ultimately feed the LNG Canada terminal in Kitimat.
