Hot temperatures rapidly melting snowpacks are leading to rising river levels across BC prompting a flood warning from the River Forecast Centre.
The Skeena and Bulkley Rivers have been upgraded to a flood warning including their tributaries surrounding the Wet’suwet’en and Gitxsan Territories, Smithers, Telkwa, Hazelton, Kispiox and Terrace.
On the Skeena River by Usk, flows are forecasted to exceed the flood stage today and may hit 20 year levels over the next few days.
Same goes for the Bulkley River by Smithers though flows may reach 10 year levels over Wednesday and Thursday.
A high streamflow advisory has also been issued for the Nass River, Liard river and it’s tributaries, and the Stikine river and it’s tributaries around Tahltan Territory.
