Northern Health has issued a toxic drug alert, following an series of overdose deaths in Prince George, linked to one substance.
It is being sold as brown sugar granules, and the Authority warns that it may have already spread to other regions of the north.
Drug checking has revealed the substance to contain roughly 30 percent fentanyl, and as much as 10 percent benzodiazepines.
According to reports, it is causing sudden blackouts and unusual behaviour in users.
Users are advised to know their tolerance, start small and go slow, and to never use alone, or mix drugs and alcohol.
Drug testing is available at Two Doors Down, on 3rd Avenue, between 11:00 and 6:00 in the evening, Wednesday through Sunday.
