Drivers in Terrace should see traffic congestion on Highway 16 begin to ease up, as the Old Skeena Bridge gets set to re-open.
According to DriveBC, work on the bridge has now wrapped up, and traffic is expected to begin flowing again at noon tomorrow.
Rehabilitation work on the 98 year-old bridge began last June, and was originally supposed to finish in October.
That came after a planned April start had to be pushed ahead due to challenges in finding a suitable contractor.
But, Gitga’at Park Derochie Industrial Services was eventually contracted to complete the project, with a $22.6 million bid.
Their exemplary work combined with favourable weather to help push the schedule ahead, despite the initial delays in getting off the ground.
