Local residents are being invited to help raise funds for new medical equipment at the Kitsumkalum Walk for Health early next month.
Hosted by the Nation and the Dr REM Lee Hospital Foundation, the 5 kilometre walk picks up at the Kitsumkalum Community Hall on June 3rd.
Pledge sheets can be found prior to the event at Mills Memorial Hospital, Misty River Books, Bert’s Deli, or at the Tempo Gas Bar.
All proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will go towards a new Obstetrical Ultrasound machine for the Mills maternity ward, valued at $72,100.
Door prizes will also be available on the day of the walk, along with games to keep the kids busy, and burgers by donation.
Registration will begin at 9:00 in the morning, with the walk getting going an hour later.
An announcement on the future of maternity care in the northwest will follow the walk.
