Today marks the first day of advanced voting as the City of Quesnel holds a referendum to gauge public interest in upgrading their pool.
Costs to upgrade the pool at the Quesnel Art and Recreation Centre have been pinned at an estimated $35 million.
Those upgrades would bring a new swirl pool, sauna, leisure pool, and steam rooms, along with electrical and exterior upgrades, and more.
In order to undertake the work, the City and Cariboo Regional District would need to pass a loan authorization bylaw.
If passed, residents within the sub-regional recreational tax area would see a property tax increase of $75 per $100,000 of assessed value.
Those interested in casting an advanced ballot can do so at City Hall before 8:00 this evening.
A second advanced voting opportunity will be available next Monday, with general voting day set for June 10th.
