Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Taylor Bachrach has presented a petition in the House of Commons calling for better representation for port workers.
It calls for amendments to the Canada Marine Act to ensure that workers have a spot on the Board of Directors for Port Authorities across Canada.
Garnering over 400 signatures, the petition notes the essential role port workers play in supply chain operation and sustainability.
It also speaks to the profound impact that Board decisions have on their lives, and the unique knowledge and expertise they bring to the table.
Of the five current members of the Prince Rupert Port Authority’s Board of Directors, none possess on-the-dock port experience.
