Kitimat Search and Rescue teamed up with crews from Terrace and local RCMP to rescue a driver who drove into Onion Lake on Monday.
But it was the heroic actions of one passer-by that helped keep the driver stable until emergency crews could arrive on scene.
With crews on route, the passer-by was able to pull the driver from their vehicle and perform first aid until first responders could take over.
From there, the driver was taken to hospital for treatment, with the cause of the crash believed to be a medical incident.
Mutual aid was provided by the Terrace Swift Water Rescue Team as police and KSAR members had the vehicle out of the Lake by mid-afternoon.
