Ksan Society is updating clients, staff, and neighbours of their new Joe’s Place shelter on the measures being taken to keep them safe.
Formerly known as the Turning Points Shelter, the new space officially opened its doors following its move to the old Elk’s Hall building in April.
Now located at 2822 Tetrault Street, the new space provides 40 beds for those in need who may also be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
As they adjust to their new location, the Society is monitoring and adjusting their security measures to ensure everyone feels safe.
Current measures includ: 24/7 on-site security, daily sweeps for needles in adjacent parking lots and alleys, and daily custodian and maintenance visits.
It also features on-site access to support and health services, and a covered, fenced in, yard which clients have daily access to and are encouraged to use.
