BC’s two major container ports both rank among the 10 least efficient in the world, according to a new report.
Created by World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence, the report marks the third edition of their annual Container Port Performance Index.
That index uses average time spent in port and vessels sizes to determine the efficiency of 348 container ports across the globe.
Of those, the Port of Prince Rupert ranks 342nd, with a score of just under -146, putting it three spots back of last year’s ranking.
But, that still puts it ahead of Canada’s least efficient port, the Port of Vancouver, which ranks second last on the global list, 21 spots back from last year’s spot.
