Northern Health has issued a toxic drug alert for the Dawson Creek area, following an increase in overdoses linked to one substance.
Being sold in down form, the blue substance is causing memory loss and sudden overdose symptoms when smoked or injected.
Users are advised to know their tolerance, start small and go slow, and to never use drugs alone or mix with alcohol.
If you do plan to use alone, be sure to have naloxone handy, and download the LifeGuard App, available at this link.
Those in need can head to the local overdose prevention site at 1401 102nd Avenue in Dawson Creek between 10:00 and 10:00, 7 days a week.
