Students at Conrad Elementary in Prince Rupert have a new outdoor learning space.
Syndooynm Na K’oom, or Garden of Hope, is the new classroom designed to get kids outside and learning with their hands.
A fully fenced garden, planter boxes, picnic tables, a compost station, and a shed are the new amenities featured at the school.
The project is meant to provide a safe place for students to connect with the outdoors and experience changing seasons through an Indigenous cultural lens.
In total, the construction cost $84,000, which received a $42,000 boost from the Prince Rupert Port Authority’s Community Investment Fund.
