Follow-up inspections from the past month have cleared half of Coastal GasLink’s stop work orders, but have also resulted in a new warning letter.
That letter comes after inspectors observed non-hazardous construction waste scattered around the 90 kilometre mark, south of Chetwynd.
Should CGL fail to install adequate garbage receptacles at each construction site in the area, they could face a fine of up to $1 million.
It covers an area in the Upper Anzac Watershed which also saw three stop work orders lifted recently by the Environmental Assessment Office.
One stop work order remains in the area, just east of McLeod Lake, due to failures to implement measures to control sediment and erosion.
Inspectors also maintained a pair of orders to implement similar measures at a site just east of there, and one north of Vanderhoof.
Four stop work orders remain in place along other sections of the pipeline route, also owing to sediment and erosion challenges.
CGL says they have 700 employees working to implement measures across the entire route.
