Plans to bring a permanent seasonal ecology centre to Prince Rupert are in the works, with phase one already underway.
In the summer of 2021, the North Coast Ecology Centre Society brought a pop-up centre to the community, which was met with open arms.
With that success, the Society has decided to begin the process of bringing a permanent interactive centre to the City on a seasonal basis.
This year, the Centre will be housed in a container terminal at the new Lax Süülda Container Market in Cow Bay.
It offers a space for locals and visitors to learn about the aquatic and terrestrial ecology of the north coast, and come face-to-face with its wildlife.
Open from 9:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon from Thursday to Sunday, the Centre will remain open until September.
Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for kids, and $20 for families, with seasonal passes available, and free passes handed out at the library.
