Starting tomorrow, BC residents will be able to book an appointment with pharmacists for minor ailments or contraceptives.
That comes after pharmacists’ scope of practice was expanded on June 1 to prescribe medications for 21 minor ailments as well as contraceptives.
Within that scope, pharmacists can help treat allergies, nicotine dependence, shingles, various infections, and much more.
An online booking system, similar to what was used to book COVID-19 vaccinations, will be launched to search for available and nearby pharmacists.
Using that system, you will have to complete a checklist of symptoms to determine if it’s something the pharmacist can treat.
Appointments can also be made over the phone, while some pharmacies may also accept walk-ins.
