A motion has been passed to remove RoseAnne Archibald as National Chief for the Assembly of First Nations.
In a Special Chiefs Assembly yesterday, the report of a human resources investigation were presented.
That investigation stemmed from complaints against Archibald, though the nature of such has never been released.
Following those complaints, Archibald remained adamant in her public self-defence despite being suspended.
As a result of those events, the investigation determined that Archibald breached the whistleblower policy as well as the executive committee’s code of conduct.
After hearing the report, a vote was held to oust Archibald, seeing 163 in favour, 62 opposed, and 6 abstentions.
Now, the position of National Chief will remain vacant until an interim can be selected from the executive committee.
Archibald took over the position in July 2021, making her the first woman to do so.
