As healthcare staffing concerns continue to plague the country, Northern Health has some good news for the Northwest.
By November this year, Terrace will have gained five new physicians.
They’ll be followed by an additional five family physicians and four specialists in 2024.
In addition, to keep them here, Northern Health has utilized several incentives and supports such as transitional housing for newcomers.
At the same time, Northern Health talked about the measures they’re taking to ensure stability in healthcare.
Among those efforts, the authority says they are listening to concerns of physicians and nursing communities while working on recruitment and retention.
Areas that the authority is focusing on are daycare for health professionals, senior care capacity, and reducing burdens on family physicians.
