Prince Rupert’s new RCMP detachment is set to be completed next year, and the City is hoping to give it a uniquely-local look.
Local artists from the City, Lax Kw’alaams, Metlakatla, Gitxaala, or Port Edward are being called on to submit artwork to decorate the building.
City officials will select three participants to receive a cash reward, of which one will have their design featured on the new building’s façade.
Designs should remain relatively simple, and should fit one or more of the themes provided by the City.
Those include: community safety and restorative justice, the natural environment, wildlife, or culture of the area, diversity and inclusion, and healing and reconciliation.
Artists have until July 31st to submit their art for a chance at the $10,000 grand prize, and $6,500 and $3,500 for second and third place.
You can find more information on criteria and how to submit art at this link.
