A group of parents in the Terrace and Thornhill area are voicing their concerns over the future of music classes.
Following the departure of one band teacher, the Terrace and Thornhill Parents for Music Society are worried that the new one may not fit the bill.
Although the school has told parents that band programming would continue as usual, the society wants to know more about the new instructor.
They feel they have not been given sufficient information on the new band teacher in regard to qualifications and experience.
Along with that, the society is concerned that the new teacher might not volunteer the same after school hours to band practices.
According to the society, this comes at a time of increased interest in band programming across School District 82.
Which they say couldn’t be done without a properly trained and passionate music teacher.
Due to being a personnel matter, the school district has declined to comment on the society’s concerns publicly.
