An unforeseen shortage in physician coverage has forced Northern Health to temporarily reduce emergency services at Mills Memorial Hospital.
Between midnight tonight and 8:00 tomorrow morning, only urgent or emergent patients will receive care at the hospital’s Emergency Department.
All other patients will be either diverted to another hospital, or invited to return in the morning, depending on severity.
Patients who aren’t sure whether their symptoms warrant a trip to the emergency room can call 8-1-1.
Those experiencing life-threatening symptoms, such as chest pains, breathing difficulties, severe bleeding or pain, eye injuries, or suspected overdoses, should still call 9-1-1.
