City officials in Prince Rupert are squashing rumours of an imminent power or internet outage prompted by the lingering wildfires.
After speaking with the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness, the City has confirmed them to be just that: rumours.
While no emergency outage is expected on the horizon, the City says they will put out an immediate release should those expectations change.
There is, however, a power outage impacting roughly 60 customers in Fort Babine.
BC Hydro says power went down at roughly 1:00, and a crew has been dispatched to determine its cause.
Rumours persisting in other regions of the northwest appear to be unfounded at this time, though updates will be provided if that changes.
CityWest has also issued a statement clarifying that they are only notifying customers that the fires are being monitored, and that they have no plans to shut off service.
