A proposed, Nisga’a Nation-owned, LNG project has been given the green light to apply for a full environmental assessment certificate.
That order lays out how the assessment will be conducted, defines its scope, and outlines the responsibilities of each party.
Proponents will now begin conducting consultations and technical studies to fill their application, which they intend to submit later this year.
Proposed by the Nation and their partners Western LNG and Rockies LNG, the floating facility is planned for Pearse Island, west of Gingolx.
It has been designed to be the world’s largest net-zero LNG export facility, producing 12 million tonnes of LNG annually over its 40 year lifespan.
