Those fighting for justice at a blockade set-up outside a Manitoba landfill aren’t letting a recently issued injunction order stop them.
Last June, police uncovered the remains of Crane River First Nation member Rebecca Contois at the Brady Road Landfill in Winnipeg.
It came a month after she was murdered, with alleged serial killer Jeremy Skibicki being charged in her death,
Skibicki was later charged with the deaths of three other Indigenous women: Morgan Harris, Marcedes Myran, and an unidentified victim known as Buffalo Woman.
Friends and family believe all three to be buried at the nearby Prairie Green Landfill, but the Province says a search would be too costly.
In December, supporters set up a blockade outside the Brady Road Landfill to urge government to fund a search of the landfill.
An injunction order was issued to clear access to the road on Friday, after being initially delayed the week prior.
While supporters say they will not resist a tear down of the camp, they will leave two teepees and a wigwam at the site to serve as a reminder.
A new camp is also being set up outside the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg, to continue to push for a search.
