Officials are warning of the dangers posed by wildfire smoke inhalation, following the sudden and heartbreaking death of a nine year old boy.
Carter Vigh passed away unexpectedly in 100 Mile House last week after suffering an asthma attack which was made worse by the lingering smoke.
His parents say that Carter had been acting normally earlier in the day, but his condition rapidly turned later in the afternoon.
A GoFundMe is available at this link for those wishing to support the family at this time.
It’s a tragedy that has the Province warning of the risk wildfire smoke poses to the elderly, young infants, and those with lung and heart conditions.
Residents can protect themselves by staying indoors with all windows closed, using high-quality HEPA air filters, and spending time in places with controlled air supplies, such as malls.
