It’s all hands on deck to battle the over 380 wildfires burning in BC, the majority of which are in the Bulkley-Nechako.
Support from the Armed Forces and international firefighters have helped crews to eliminate some evacuation notices today.
An evacuation alert which had been in place for the Village of Sik-E-Dakh has been lifted, and an order around Fort Babine was dropped to an alert.
A small order east of Houston was lifted and added to the surrounding alert, and alerts north of Fraser Lake and around Klawli Lake were rescinded.
Another large alert around Takla Landing has been reduced, now only covering properties north of Humphrey Lake and south of the Stikine.
While multiple orders remain from Fraser Lake south to Tweedsmuir Park, the alert area has been reduced around the Saik’uz Nation’s Stoney Creek Reserve.
Orders and alerts remain in place north of Francois Lake, south of Houston, south of Babine Lake, and around Tintagel and Burns Lake.
More evacuation orders are covering the Andrew’s Creek area north of Ootsa Lake, and around Great Beaver Lake north of Vanderhoof.
And an alert is in place for Cedarvale and Woodcock, with maps and details on all evacuation orders and alerts available at this link.

Yesterday, the 2023 wildfire season officially became the worst on record, as support from the Armed Forces and International crews hit the scene.
An evacuation alert which had been in place for the Village of Sik-E-Dakh has been lifted, and an order around Fort Babine was dropped to an alert.
Orders and alerts remain in place north of Francois Lake, south and east of Houston, south of Babine Lake, and around Tintagel and Burns Lake.
An order which had been in place around Old Man Lake, east of Houston, has been lifted and added to the surrounding evacuation alert.
More evacuation orders are covering the Andrew’s Creek area north of Ootsa Lake, and around Great Beaver Lake north of Vanderhoof.
An alert is in place for Cedarvale and Woodcock, and orders and alerts cover a large swath of land between Fraser Lake and Tweedsmuir Park.
