After some back and forth, an International Longshore and Warehouse Union meeting will be held to discuss a recommended settlement.
The stop work meeting is planned for next Tuesday in order to bring recommended Terms of Settlement to the membership.
Although no details have been given on those terms or if they’re the same that were previously recommended by mediators.
According to the BC Maritime Employers Association, that proposal could have netted a total 19.2 percent wage increase for port workers.
However, the union voted down that proposed 4 year contract, stating it didn’t address cost of living adjustments.
It’s been a busy week for the group as they attempted to walk off the job on Tuesday before reissuing a strike notice which was then rescinded.
This all prompted Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to convene the Incident Response Group to discuss the situation.
Made up of cabinet members and advisors, the group is only intended to meet in the event of a national crisis.
Meanwhile, the BCMEA has not announced any updates on negotiations.
