Locals and regular visitors to Ferry Island in Terrace will notice a stunning new sign welcoming them to the site.
Crafted by renowned local artist Joerg Jung of JJ’s WoodArt, the nearly completed sign is funded by the Terrace Community Forest.
In its current form, it features four panel-style images of a tent in the woods, a fisherman at work, an eagle and a bear.
All carved in wood, the panels are housed between two stylised tree trunks under a shingled roof, with the Community Forest logo in the centre.
Once completed, the project will also include a bench, a sign displaying the history of Ferry Island and a welcome greeting in both English and Sm’algyax.
