Two of Three Northern Ridings Remain Unchanged as Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission Tables Final Report

BC’s two largest federal ridings will remain untouched heading into the 2025 election.

On Friday, the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission tabled their final report on how to redistibute the country’s districts.

Established in November of 2021, the commission attempted to set electoral districts which distribute the population as evenly as possible.

They also factored in community interest and identity, historical patterns, and the overall size and geography of the ridings.

Both the Skeena-Bulkley Valley and Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies ridings will remain the same.

But the Cariboo-Prince George riding will be extended in the southeast to include 100 Mile House, Deka Lake, Bridge Lake, and more.

Other ridings in the south will also see changes, though BC’s total number of seats will remain the same at 43.

As a whole, Canada will add 5 new seats, bringing the total to 343 when the changes are finalized.
