More rain meant more relief for crews fighting hundreds of wildfires raging in the north, as the most dangerous blazes migrate south.
Evacuation orders and alerts remain in effect east and south of Houston, south of Babine Lake, and between Burns Lake and Tintagel.
A small portion of the evacuation order north of Francois Lake remains in place, while the rest has been added to the surrounding alert.
An order remains in place along Andrew’s Creek west of Ootsa Lake, and an order which had covered the Great Beaver Lake area north of Vanderhoof has been reduced to an alert.
We’re also seeing alerts north of Stuart Lake, south of Noonlang Lake, and north of Takla Landing near the Omineca Provincial Park.
A large portion of the southeast Nechako area and northern Cariboo is still under orders and alerts, though many have been reduced.
Precipitation over the past few days has brought the fire danger rating across most of the Northwest down to low for the first time in weeks.
Some areas are still seeing moderate risks, including the areas around Terrace and Kitimat.
