An extensive new transportation plan has been adopted by the City of Prince Rupert to guide their future endeavours.
Developed over the past year, the plan is divided into 29 strategies, further split into one of four priority themes.
Those themes include: interconnectivity, active transportation, public transportation, and, of course, driving.
Some of the key strategies include: improving service in and out of the City, building safer cycling and sidewalk networks, encouraging ride hailing programs, and designing people-first streets.
It also lays out a number of more specific policies, though none of the mentioned projects have received council approval.
While the plan also provides strategies to reduce costs, it doesn’t lay out specific price tags, though Council says it would be tough to afford right now anyway.
