Tahltan Central Government President Chad Norman Day says his Nation has been continually ignored by a mining company on their land.
Despite signing a communications agreement with Doubleview Gold in 2021, Day says the company has disregarded their input and rights.
His comments come as Doubleview moves ahead with exploration activities at their Hat Project site, which covers over 5,000 hectares.
Located roughly 95 kilometres southwest of Dease Lake, the project lies on sacred land on which many of the Nation’s ancestors were buried.
But despite consistent requests to cease activities on the land, Day says there have been no meaningful discussions with the company.
Nonetheless, the TCG says they are willing to take legal action to have the mine removed and protect the land if it proves necessary.
