There are fewer than 400 active wildfires in BC for the first time in a while, but that still leaves just over 200 listed as out of control.
Nontheless, crews have made progress on the blazes raging in the northwest, with a number of orders and alerts being reduced or lifted.
Evacuation orders which had been in place both south and east of Houston have been lifted, and the surrounding alert areas reduced significantly.
Similarly, orders and alerts which had covered areas between Burns Lake and Tintagel have now been rescinded entirely.
Also lifted was a large alert covering the Northwest portion of Francois Lake, and an order for Andrew’s Creek west of Ootsa Lake.
Orders and alerts remain in place for an area south of Babine Lake, and an alert is still in effect around the Omineca Provincial Park.
South of there, alerts also remain for an area south of Noonlang Lake and areas around Great Beaver Lake north of Vanderhoof.
Orders and alerts covering a large portion of the southeast Nechako and northern Cariboo areas are also in effect.
