A wildland fighter has passed away while combatting the largest wildfire the province has ever seen.
RCMP say the 25 year-old from Ontario had been working on the 583,000 hectare Donnie Creek fire in the North Peace at the time.
He had been travelling within the fire area, when the UTV he was riding rolled over a steep drop along a gravel road, resulting in serious injuries.
Crews would transport him to the Fort St John Airport via helicopter, but he would succumb to his injuries on route.
His death marks the second among wildfire crewmembers in BC this month, after the passing of Devyn Gale near Revelstoke on July 13th.
It also marks the fourth in western Canada this month.
Adam Yeadon passed away on July 15th while fighting a fire near Fort Liard in the Northwest Territories, and pilot Ryan Gould passed on July 19th, following a helicopter crash near Haig Lake in Alberta.
