Hospitality workers at a second Kitimat-based lodge housing LNG Canada construction crews have voted in favour of strike action.
It comes just days after workers at the Cedar Valley Lodge, the largest in Kitimat, reached a new agreement with Sodexo to avert a strike.
But now, janitors, servers, kitchen staff, and more at the 800-unit Horizon North Crossroads Lodge have unanimously authorized a strike.
Represented by UNITE HERE Local 40, the workers say they are seeking a pay raise in line with the 12 percent boost given to BC Building Trades workers last year.
They also say they are in need of better workload protections, as they are taking on unsustainable loads due to consistent understaffing.
Their current deal expired on May 10th, and the Union and employer are currently in mediation working on a deal.
No strike notice has been issued as of yet.
