Prince George RCMP have launched their seventh and eighth homicide investigations of 2023, already the most of any year on record.
Earlier this month, police announced they were looking into two suspicious deaths in as many days, which have now been ruled homicides.
Police responded to the first death on the 1500 block of Victoria Street on July 17th, though the details of that incident remain sparse.
One day later, police were called to a second suspicious death, stemming from a home invasion on the 2100 block of Upland Street.
Family have now identified the victim of that incident as 22 year-old Nadleh Whut’en First Nation member Isabelle Thomas.
Her death marked the City’s eighth homicide of the year, surpassing the record set in 2010, though that year saw to more just outside city limits.
That had prompted McLean’s Magazine to name it as Canada’s most dangerous city three years in a row.
