A former high school teacher in 100 Mile House who pleaded guilty to sexually-charged crimes against two minors will not face jail time.
35 year-old Vincent Collins had faced up to 2 years in jail after pleading guilty to sexual interference of a person under 16, and assault last June.
He had been arrested in April of 2021 while on his way to work at Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School.
Court filings say that Collins inappropriately touched one girl on her lower back during a playfight, and asked another for a kiss on the cheek after more inappropriate contact.
Collins had also sent inappropriate, sexually-charged, text messages and, in one instance, a gift, to the girls.
But, Judge Linda Thomas decided against jail time, instead sentencing him to a combination of house arrest, curfew, and probation over 21 months.
She cited his decision to plead guilty, low risk of re-offending, efforts to pursue counselling, and lack of a criminal record in making her decision.
