City crews in Prince Rupert are continuing to work around the clock to repair an escalating series of water main breaks.
With the City awaiting word on much needed funding to replace their aging water infrastructure, crews are moving ahead with interim repairs.
Yesterday, a worsening rupture on 7th Avenue East forced crews to extend a single-lane closure between Plaza and Immanuel Street to both lanes.
More water repairs prompted a full closure of Frederick Street between 8th avenue East and Hays Cove Avenue yesterday as well.
Other breaks led to single-lane closures on 2nd Avenue West, as well as side walk closures in the area.
In addition to the direct closures, the emergency repairs are also drawing attention from other work, prompting more delays.
Road work on Fulton Street which has it closed between 3rd and 5th Avenue West is now expected to continue through August 19th.
