Projects which promote and foster healthy lifestyles in four northern communities are among 33 benefitting from a fresh provincial investment.
Funding from the PlanH Program supports local and First Nations governments as they build healthier and more connected communities.
$5,000 will go to the City of Fort St John to provide tools and training for youth to plan, develop, grow and maintain gardens, and prepare meals.
Another $5,000 goes to the Stellat’en First Nation to support youth participation in the community garden using culturally-relevant holistic methods.
In the Disrict of Stewart, $5,000 will support social connectedness through their Swim to Survive course, and wildlife education for youth.
And the Village of Gingolx gets $15,000 to host a scavenger hunt which tasks participants with telling a story entirely in the Nisga’a language.
