Warmer temperatures and lower humidity in the forecast has the Wildfire Service warning of increased wildfire smoke in the Northwest.
For inland sections of the north coast, including Terrace and Kitimat, temps are expected to stick in the high-twenties through the weekend.
Wildfire activity in the region has waned in recent days, with drought conditions along the north coast among the lowest in BC.
But, with rain also absent from the forecast, crews are expecting wildfire activity to increase as the area dries out.
With ground fuels becoming more receptive to ignition, crews are also planning to conduct prescribed burns to remove fuel in the Nadina Fire Zone.
As a result, in addition to the added heat, residents in the area should expect to see increased wildfire smoke and reduced air quality.
Children, pregnant women, the elderly, and those with underlying conditions are advised to remain indoors, stay cool, and avoid inhaling wildfire smoke if possible.
