Police in Smithers closed out the month by uncovering over $250,000 in illicit drugs during a routine traffic stop.
BC Highway Patrol officers were conducting stops along Highway 16 near Rose Lake on July 31st when they pulled over a speeding Honda Accord.
Discussions with the driver which followed made police suspicious and prompted them to search the vehicle.
They would discover a significant quantity of drugs, including suspected cocaine and fentanyl, with an estimated street value of $250,000.
Officers would also seize the vehicle after arresting the driver, who is now facing multiple charges related to the incident.
