A two-vehicle collision which briefly closed Highway 16 east of Terrace on Wednesday evening has claimed the life of one of the drivers.
RCMP say that two pick-up trucks, a Ford and a Toyota, had been travelling on the Highway near Usk Frontage Road when they collided head-on.
Crews from the Thornhill Volunteer Fire Department assisted officers at the scene, where the driver of the Ford had become trapped inside his truck.
He would be extracted from the vehicle and transported to hospital, but would sadly succumb to his injuries shortly after.
Police say the driver of the Toyota was already outside of the vehicle when they arrived, and sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash.
An investigation into the cause of the crash has been launched, and anyone with information is asked to contact Terrace RCMP at 250 638 7400.
