Illicit drugs which washed up on the coast near Kitkatla have both the Gitxaała Nation and Prince Rupert RCMP searching for answers.
Split between two packages, the substances were discovered by a local fisherman, but their original source remains unknown at this time.
One of the packages had been ripped open by the ocean current, but police believe the other to have contained cocaine.
A joint investigation between the Nation and RCMP has now been launched, with the pair concerned over possible smuggling activities.
They are working together to uncover the origins of the drugs and develop an action plan to ensure community safety.
If you locate suspected drugs in the community, you are advised to notify Prince Rupert RCMP at 250 624 2136.
As many drugs can become contaminated or be harmful if handled incorrectly, it is important not to touch any substances you may find.
