Thanks to rainy forecasts and dwindling wildfire conditions, campfire bans in the Northwest will be rescinded.
Effective August 11 at noon, both the Prince George and Northwest Fire Centres will have their campfire bans lifted.
That means fires smaller than 0.5 metres high and 0.5 metres wide can be held as long as the proper precautions are taken.
That includes ensuring a fuel break surrounds the flames, having ready access to a shovel or eight litres of water, and ensuring the fire is fully extinguished and the ashes cool to the touch before leaving.
However, category 2 and 3 open burning remains prohibited in addition to fireworks, sky lanterns, burn barrels, and binary exploding targets.
