New Hazelton RCMP are looking for volunteers for an educational ICBC program.
Speed watch checks see volunteers monitor speeds in school and playground zones, neighbourhoods, and high crash zones.
Volunteers will be trained by police or other qualified operators to use portable radar equipment and an electronic digital board.
Speeds will be recorded and reported to both police and ICBC to inform future RCMP enforcement areas.
In addition, the program seeks to educate drivers who speed of the associated risks.
To apply, you must be 19 years or older, commit to a one year minimum, consent to background checks, take an oath of confidentiality, have a valid drivers license, and have a clean driving record for the past 5 years.
For more information, contact the New Hazelton RCMP at 250 842 5244.
