A pair of Prince Rupert property owners are vying for more time to take remedial action on debris.
Last month, the city council approved a pair of orders to remove the debris themselves unless a reconsideration notice was issued within 14 days.
While both property owners were asking for more time, ultimately, the council decided to stay the deadlines.
As a result, the owners of Rose’s Oriental Food and Gifts, have until tomorrow at 4:30 to remove the derelict bus and vehicle located on the site.
As well, action to remove the building itself, which burned in May last year, must be started within 30 days.
Whereas, the owner of the Angus Apartments, which have burned down twice, must have substantial remediation work completed by September 30.
If either owner fails to do so, the city will take it upon themselves to commence the work, while the cost remains the owner’s responsibility.
