Investigations may have uncovered the cause of an explosion in Prince George last month.
In the early morning of August 22, an explosion in downtown Prince George sent three people to the hospital, one seriously injured.
Since then, investigators have determined that the building was broken into the night before, and there is evidence of copper pipe theft, damaging at least one gas line.
With that, ignition of the explosion was caused by the activities of an unauthorized person who was unaware of the buildup of natural gas.
The investigation is ongoing and RCMP cites the cases’ complexity, so it will be some time before officers make any further determinations.
